For over a decade Jennifer’s work has focused primarily within the landscape of the American Bottom—the nearly 175 square mile stretch along the Mississippi River in Illinois across from St. Louis. The American Bottom is a place filled with paradox and proximities—where floodplains, wetlands, industries extraction, company towns, farming communities, and Native American sacred mounds reside in long-standing and uneasy relationship to one another.
